Finally....SUNSHINE!!!

That's right, we had sunshine today. I finally felt wide awake and didn't yawn once all day. It's only supposed to last 2-3 days so we'd better enjoy it. Fall is kind of a bust this year. It froze hard so early that there won't be any "pretty" this year. And all the gloominess certainly brings a person down.

So what did I do today? Well I vacuumed & vacuumed & vacuumed some more. Then I spayed with flea spray. Yes, my cats had fleas and therefore my house had fleas. Advantage seemed get rid of them on the cats and all the vacuuming and spraying seems to have them out of the house....after spending about $100 on spray, Advantage and flea collars. They've been really bad this year.....my pets weren't the only ones in town infected and I know of people in Colorado & Florida who have been fighting them as well. Call it "flea terrorism."

One good thing came of it though. I pulled everything out from under my bed to clean & spray since one of the cats likes to hide under there and found a box with three quilt UFOs in it (is that really a good thing?) that I thought I accidentally threw out when I painted the bedrooms three years ago and switched the bedroom and sewing room around. And that's the only even remotely quilty that happened here this week. :)

  1. Yes, with cats in the house the vacuum cleaner really gets a workout. No fleas for us (thank goodness!) but Choco sometiimes gets ticks. And we are plagued by mosquitos so I have to do mosquito protection for Choco too. I guess fleas like dry weather and mosquitos like wet.

  2. Oh my, you sure do have my sympathies!! Years ago our two cats got fleas....we lived in FL at the time....and we could not get rid of them no matter what we tried. Awful! I'm glad you conquered them!!!

  4. Oh how much I've enjoyed my visit to your blog, my dh has just discovered the joys of 'bottling' preserves etc. Couldn't get him interested when I was literally upto the neck in fruit/veg ect a few yrs ago LOL. Having a humble 3 bed semi his chutneys/pickles etc are limited to a few jars of each, think I'll space him out and show him your pics LOL. I'm off to find the recipe for the Caramel apple jam.

Like you my cupboards are full of my knitting, cross stitch & quilting supplies now I've ventured in the large containers to store even more fabric I've bought, had given to me. Dh is offering to move into the garage ;o) notice I said offered.

Will certainly be back to visit again.

  5. Sorry I meant to add to my post, when I had four cats and carpets we had the usual annual flea problem however we changed our vet and were told as well as usuing flea treatment she recommended I put a flea collar in my hoover bag so if any fleas were alive when hoovered up they would soon die because of the flea collar. Just a little tip I found great.

  6. I am so thankful my pets haven't had a flea problem, the luck of SoCal, a small yard and dogs that stay close I think. But I'd be thrilled to look under my bed and find quilt tops, all I have is even more fabric.
